Scarlett Fever

I remember my sister came down with Scarlett Fever. The first thing that went up on our house was a huge yellow sign warning people of the disease and not to enter the house. My father had to leave the house and live somewhere else so my mother was confined to the house with three young children. No one else contracted the Scarlett Fever but we all had to stay in the house for three weeks. Poor mom!!! The one thing I recall more that being confined was that mother took all the furniture in the living room out in the yard and scrubbed it thoroughly with Lysol. She did such a thorough job that the furniture was ruined. The up beat that happened – we got all new living room furniture. It was Depression Time so that hurt more than the confinement!!!
