Six Day War S.C. The end of the 6 Day War on June 9, 1967 meant that Jerusalem was once again a united city and Jews were free to visit the Wailing War or the remains of the Second Temple. After a lot of time searching on the internet to explain the significance of the event and the joy of Jews throughout the world, I have decided these following statements will help people understand the significance of the Israeli Victory. As early as 1004 BCE, King David had established Jerusalem as the capital of his kingdom. But there were long stretches of time when Jews were forbidden to enter the city to pray. Both the end of the Yom Kippur services, Judaism’s most sacred holiday and Passover services the final line is Next Year in Jerusalem. Next year may we be permitted to meet and pray in the Holy City at the Wailing Wall, the Kotel etc. At the end of the Jewish marriage ceremony, the groom picks up his heel and smashes a piece of glass as a reminder of the destruction of the Second Temple. He might say, If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning.
There are many significant outcomes from the end of the Six Day War. In this article, I don’t want to discuss politics but merely want to point out one of the most important events that occurred during the 1960s.
